Palm Sunday Festival Service
~ 9:30 am – Live-streamed service from the Church Sanctuary
Minister: Rev. Elmo Acton
This will be a festival-type service, though the minister will include messaging for both children and adults. It will include organ pre-, inter-, and postlude music, as we are currently used to. In addition, the organist will play a verse or two of one of the Palm Sunday hymns from our liturgy, so that people can hear the music of the season. We will also scan the hymn lyrics and make them available via e-mail in advance of this Sunday, in case people would like to hum or sing along at home.

Good Friday Holy Supper Service
~ 7:30 pm – Live-streamed service from the Church Sanctuary
Minister: Rev. Mark Pendleton
We will offer a Good Friday Holy Supper service. People are encouraged to purchase wine and to make unleavened bread for the service (see the simple recipe emailed to GNC email list), and people will take the elements in their homes at an appropriate time within the service. I look forward to this opportunity for the congregation to be experience a Holy Supper connection with the Lord in this unique way.

Easter Festival Service
~ 11:00 am – Live-streamed service from the Auditorium
Minister: Rev. Mark Pendleton
This year we will offer one service on Easter. It will be live-streamed from the auditorium, airing at 11:00 AM. It will be a festival-type service, and the minister will include a two-part message, with the second part being squarely for adults. It will include pre-, inter-, and postlude music. In addition, I will see if our musicians would be able to play one or two verses of several Easter hymns so that people can (once again) enjoy the music of the season. We will also scan the hymn lyrics and make them available in advance of the service, in case people would like to hum or sing along at home. It should be nice.
Flowers for Easter Service
In addition to the above, one of our council members had the following idea: Anyone who is already planning to have flowers for Easter in their home (or if you would simply like to take part in this idea) purchase some extra flowers for Easter Sunday, then drive them to the church on Easter morning, and place them on the steps in front of the two wooden doors. Place them there by 10:00 AM, and we will bring them inside to decorate the auditorium chancel for our service.
What an interesting and creative idea. It’s even a nice way to “push back” against the pandemic, with beautiful flowers reflecting new life and vitality in the face of COVID-19. Covid Schmovid! That said, if you decide to take part in this idea, please do take the proper precautions when going to the store. Wear a mask and a pair of serving gloves if you have them, and wash your hands after your purchase.
